(PUBLISHING: PROJECT GUTENBERG TO OFFER 10 MLN FREE BOOKS
(AGI) Rome - Project Gutenberg, the vast virtual library, aims to publish 10 million books in 100 languages. The project already offers the free download of 40,000 ebooks in the public domain, all digitised by volunteers. Interviewed by Jack, the Gruner+Jahr/Mondadori monthly magazine edited by Jacopo Loredan, and out on Saturday, the project's founder, Michael Hart, explained: "We want to provide a total of one billion books for free download," and he provided figures that show the growth of his project from 125 thousand downloads a day on 20 December to almost 140,000 on 21 January. . .)
